Wiki software permits any one to create new articles or edit existing ones using simplified markup. This wiki is devoted to water resources and related issues. Contributors should keep that focus in mind. While there will be an initial focus on the water resources of the San Luis Valley contributions are welcome regarding the water resources of any place on earth.

[edit] Simplified guide to wiki syntax

Headings are made like this: ==Heading==. The more ='s the smaller the heading. Use at least 2 =='s.

To start a new paragraph, skip a line.

To make a link to an existing or potential new article do this [[name of article]]. If the name of the article is not a good fit use this syntax: [[name of article|word or phrase used in article]]. If the word or phrase used in article is a plural use this syntax: [[house]]s. The ending s will be handled automatically.

To make a link to an external website use this syntax: [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Contents]. (This URL, the portal to the extensive help system on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Contents can be used to get up to speed on the numerous features of the MediaWiki software used on this site). If the url is set forth without the confining brackets it will display in full, for example, as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Contents with the confining brackets as [1]. If it is desired to include explanatory language in the link use this syntax: [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Contents Wikipedia Help Page] which displays like this: Wikipedia Help Page
