The Kalmath Basin is in northern California with part of its upper basin in southern Oregon. A contemplated river restoration project contemplates removal of four hydroelectric dams which have effected the ecology of the river, particularly salmon stocks. In 2009 the plan, which calls for removal of 4 dams, was near approval.
