The Murray-Darling Basin (MDB) is a basin in the south of Australia which contains one of the country's major agricultural regions. Basin states include New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, and the Australian Capital Territory. For purposes of water management the basin is divided into nearly 100 groundwater management units (GMUs).
