The Safe Drinking Water Alliance, a public-private project devoted to ensuring safe drinking water was announced April 22, 2004 at the United Nations' Commission on Sustainable Development meeting in New York. The Safe Drinking Water Alliance is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Global Development Alliance and Procter & Gamble. Other partners, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health/Center for Communication Programs (CCP), CARE, and Population Services International (PSI), are providing technical and program support resources.
