The Yellowstone River Compact is an interstate compact ratified in 1950 between Wyoming, Montana and North Dakota concerning distribution and administration of the Yellowstone River and its tributaries. It is administer by the three person Yellowstone River Compact Commission (YRCC). It was in the news in 2007 due to a dispute between Montana and Wyoming over use of the Tongue River and the Powder River which was reported to be headed for litigation in the United States Supreme Court.
